We chose to work with Woodland Windows because of knowledgeable staff and their close relationship with the major window manufacturers to complete both large and complex projects such as the New Village Hall in Arlington Heights and several other smaller custom projects. In each case, we received the windows as designed within the desired lead-time. Any service related or warranty issues, although few, were handled professionally and expeditiously.

It was a pleasure working with you, your craftsmen and Andersen Windows designing and installing energy efficient windows. As you remember, the Joliet Public Library used 119 windows of 89 different sizes. Actual comparisons of costs for operations are difficult because we also added true forced air heating, insulated ductwork, computer controlled HVAC, energy efficient lighting and a new vestibule immediately after the new windows. Your window project was the first step in the process. The energy efficient lights the last piece of the third phase of the process. Savings in electricity and natural gas were the expected positives. The number of kilowatt hours used to air condition the Main Building was reduced by 16%, although we added another level into public service. Some significant portion of the reduced power use is the modernized and upgraded lighting and cooling systems, however, a portion is directly attributable to the insulated, double glazed windows. Heat gain in the offices and along the south and west walls was very minimal in comparison to past years. The mild summer contributed marginally.

Overall, the Joliet Public Library paid less total cash in 2009 for natural gas than it did the year before the project (four budgets ago). The amount of gas used by the Main Library decreased by 14%, some of which are attributable to the mild winter of 2008-9. Despite rate increases, the total window and renovation project has saved the Library from the uncontrolled cost increases of the past few years.

The windows are a significant contributor to the energy effiency of the improved Joliet Public Library. Your craftsmen and you attention to detail in design and installation were significant contributors to the great result. The Historic Society had to compliment us on our matching of the style and finishes to the 1903 woodwork. They had thought to protest, but could not -- NICE JOB! In future construction projects, I would certainly keep you on our list of contractors.
